Ray Takeyh is a Senior Fellow for Middle East Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the author of The Guardians of the Revolution: Iran and the World (forthcoming) and recently completed Hidden Iran: Paradox and Power in the Islamic Republic, which examines the complexities of Iranian politics and its relationship with its regional counterparts and with the United States. He is also a contributing editor for The National Interest.
