Shardad Rohani and his daughter Sara (January 12, 2007) - by QH

Shardad Rohani, Sarah Rohani and me (January 12, 2007) - by QH

The concert featured original composition by Shardad Rohani. His style is considered to be contemporary and new age compared to his older brother Anoushiravan Rohani. The program included two melodies (jila & Esfahan) from Javad Maroufi who is Rohani's mentor. William Hagen, 13, violinist; performed Wieniawski- Violin Concerto #2 in D minor in the first session of the program.
Shardad's 15-year-old daughter Sara who is a student at the Colburn School was a guest singer. She sang O Del Mio Dolce Ardor by Gluck and received a standing ovation from the audience. The program ended on a high note when the orchestra played the popular Iranian anthem "Ey Iran".

We will neither announce nor cover future events organized by the Fariborz "Fred" Matloob unit of B'nai B'rith. Susan Azizzadeh who produced this event was extremely rude to me. She simply didn't want me to cover this concert. I purchased a $50 ticket to see what the fuss was all about. Well, this concert was more about politics than music. Most of the concert attendees were from the affluent Iranian Jewish community because it was to benefit a Jewish charity. Also, the ticket prices were set very high that only a select group was able to enjoy this concert. Hopefully, Shardad will have another concert for the "people" soon.
