Molana Jalal-e-Din Mohammad Molavi Rumi was a 13th-century Iranian Muslim poet, theologian, and Sufi mystic. For many years now, he has been the most popular poet in America. His work has been adapted into feautre films and songs in the West. On Rumi's 805th birthday, Dr. Majid Naini recited some of Rumi's poetry in Persian with English translation and interpretation. He also reflected on the life and teachings of Rumi. The event also included a concert of traditional Iranian music by the Sibarg Ensemble.
