Bush Expresses Condolences for Earthquake Victims in Iran

United States stands "ready to assist"

President Bush expressed his "sincere condolences" for the loss of life and suffering caused by the February 22 earthquake in the Iranian province of Kerman, and said the United States stands ready to assist the people of Iran in responding to this tragedy, according to a February 23 White House statement.

Condolences for the victims of the Earthquake in Iran

On behalf of the American people, the President expresses his sincere condolences for the loss of life and suffering caused by yesterday's earthquake in the Iranian province of Kerman. Our thoughts and prayers are with those families and individuals who lost loved ones. The United States stands ready to assist the people of Iran in responding to this tragedy, and we will be in contact with the Government of Iran to offer concrete help.
