International Friendly Between Los Angeles Galaxy and Iran National Team Cancelled

Game Scheduled For April 28 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena Called Off

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, April 19, 2004) - The international friendly match between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Iran national team has been cancelled, the club announced today.

The game had been scheduled for Wednesday April 28 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. but has been called off due to time constraints associated with securing the necessary paperwork for the Iranian team to travel. The Galaxy will maintain contact with the Iranian Federation with the hopes of re-scheduling the match at a later date this year.

"We are disappointed to lose this game, particularly given the great response we have received from the Iranian-American community," said Galaxy President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. "We will continue to work hard to provide our fans with marquee international matchups throughout the year."

Galaxy fans that have already ordered tickets for the match are advised to follow these procedures to receive a refund. Those fans that ordered tickets through the club will have their money refunded by calling 1-877-GALAXY or their individual account executive. People who purchased their seats through TicketMaster should call or go to the center where they purchased the tickets for a full refund.

The Los Angeles Galaxy resume their 2004 MLS regular season this Saturday, April 24 at 7 pm against the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center in Carson. It is the first Los Angeles Times Family Pack night of the season. For as a little as $52, a family of four gets four match tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and a Los Angeles Times newspaper.
