Akbar Gaji Lecture - UCLA (October 19, 2008)Title of the Lecture: Dar Jostojooye Demokracy baraye Iran This lecture was part of the Center for Near Eastern Studies Bilingual Lecture Series on Iran. Akbar Ganji looked frail and fragile. The former commander of Iran's revolutionary guards came to UCLA to talk about his new book "The Road to Democracy in Iran". He sounded philosophical yet very practical. However, his analysis overlooks economic issues. Dissidents such as Ganji and Haghighatjoo provide us with a rare look at post revolutionary Iran. One cannot rule them out to play a role for the future of Iran. But the chances are very slim to none that the reformist would once again triumph. Video Related Links |
